A historical trove

2013 - ongoing

When my grandparents migrated to Australia in the 1950s, they would often receive letters, accompanied with photographs from their siblings and other relatives in Italy. They too sent their fair share of photographs back to their hometown, eager to share glimpses of their new life. Perhaps there is a trove of faded pictures from the ‘50s and ‘60s of a multicultural Coburg in an album somewhere in Calabria. This work is part of an ongoing series that places my photographs into dialogue with those from my family album. While the latter initially served as a way for relatives to stay connected, this work serves to connect generations. It offers glimpses into life then and now, revealing an ongoing celebration of cultural and spiritual identity.
